This is a brief introduction to our practice, which we hope will help us to serve you better.

MedHelp was founded 23 years ago by Dr. Michael Vaughn as Birmingham’s first Primary / Urgent care facility. In addition to offering convenient hours and not requiring appointments, the doctors will be happy to see you as a regular patient or as an alternative to your regular doctor if he or she is not available.

It is our goal to follow the “Golden Rule”, treating our patients as we would like to be treated. The physicians here are dedicated to helping people whether they are sick of body or of spirit. It is always our intention to honor Christ as we treat our patients.

Our office hours are: Monday - Friday 8am-8pm
Saturday 8am-6pm
Sunday 1pm-6pm

We have a physician on call 24/7 and our physicians admit patients requiring hospitalization to St. Vincent’s or Brookwood hospitals, however arrangements can be made for any of the area hospitals. Most of the time our patients will be admitted under the care of a hospitalist who specializes in inpatient care.

It is our intention to see patients in a timely manner, however we ask that you understand that each patient is unique and time requirements may vary from person to person. We guarantee that each patient, when seen, will be given the attention and time they need.

MedHelp is honored to be on the teaching staff for UAB School of Medicine, South Alabama School of Medicine as well as the Physician Assistant Program at UAB and the Nurse Practitioner Program at UAB and Samford. You may see one of these students first but will always see one of our regular physicians too.

We accept most insurance coverage and are happy to file your claim for you. Patients are reminded that the ultimate responsibility for payment of their bill remains with them. All co-pays are due at the time of service. Patients without insurance coverage are required to make a deposit of $100.00 prior to being seen and the balance, if any, is due at check out.
